Robert H. Lampe

I study the ecology, physiology, and molecular biology of marine phytoplankton. My research spans a wide range of topics but centers on three main themes: (1) patterns in phytoplankton abundance, diversity, and function, (2) nutrient requirements, utilization, and responses to limitation, and (3) responses to natural variability and anthropogenic change. I am also interested in improving methods for characterizing marine microbes using environmental omics (metabarcoding, metatranscriptomics, and metaproteomics), spanning sample collection, extraction and purification, and bioinformatics.
